Scared!

This weekend's Dr Who was quite scary! The classic "monster at the window" moment made me jump!

I am struggling to remember something so this is thrown out to the wider audience...

Two things grabbed me in the episode:

First was the scarecrows... Wurzle Gummage aside, what Kids TV show had scary scarecrows in it? The ones on Dr Who really reminded me of something and there was a real creepiness to the memory that it twanged. Maybe it was "The Moondial"?

Second was the image of the little girl with the balloon. Serena reckons that that is an homage to a classic horror film. I think I know what she means, but I cannot place that memory either!

I've not watched it yet - it's recorded ready to go though.

I'll pass on my thoughts soon as I have...

...what I do know is that it was a remake of a classic Dr Who book by the same title.

Yep, the Dr Who books are not "official" as far as the true Dr Who timeline is concerned, so if RTD allows something that contradicts a book then that is just tough! I think the major differences from the book are that the book was supposed to by Silvester McKoy's incarnation and that "Dr Smith" was living in Victorian Times, but then again I may have misread that on Wiki last week.
The forums are full of speculation over the 2nd half of the episode and the 2nd half of the season, as this week's had a little montage os the future stuck on the end of it. I deliberately didn't watch it and have stopped reading the speculation posts as I want things to unfold "naturally"!

Oh - I think the scarecrwos remind me of the ones in Live and Let Die!

Just watched it, and it's brilliant though I didn't jump or find it scary at all - perhaps too many horror movies growing up have numbed me?

Girl with balloon? I know what you mean but the red balloon reminded me of The Sixth Sense (think about it).
