Chop

OK, it's not exactly a suprise, but yesterday's announcement confirmed what we suspected.... No jobs for the London Project Team.

So I have the choice between Voluntary Severance or Redeployment.

The latter means you get stuck on a list of people with no jobs and get matched to a vacancy. You get very little say in what vacancy you get matched against, so I am not inclined to pick that option.

The former means I get a pay-off of approx half a year's salary (not certain on the tax implications) and need to find a new job.

Looks like I will out of work come November!

'Dunny Munny' is tax free - no implications.

I'd take the money and run mate, don't look back.

Yes it's 7 years of history and change is worrying, especially if you didn't bring about the change yourself, but how many other times do you get offered £xxk in your hand, tax-free?

You have your skills, you have shed-loads of Finance experience, it's not going to be a problem mate - even if you contract from place to place for a little while until you're sure what you really want to do.

I'd say it was a blessing in disguise mate, getting you out of a role you agreed was becoming stagnant.

...I said 'mate' a lot there, guess you know where you stand!

...either that or it's working in an Aurstraayleein company again.... :)

OK... The first 30k of Dunny Money is tax free, so that is OK.
Looks like they want me to work my Notice (i.e. until Xmas), with the caveat that come mid-November we should be able to come a mutually acceptible early finish date if I so desire.
I even have statutory rights to days off to attend interviews!

Hey that's not too bad mate, and yeah your Dunny should be <£30k should it not? So that's excellent....

Shame you couldn't just be on Gardening Leave for 3 months though....

Yes, 6 months salary is well below £30. It's a shame about the gardening leave though! Could have been fun!

Freudian slip! I meant £30k!
